Product description
A circular side table inspired by the royal howdah, with cabriole legs sculpted as elephant forelegs in mid-stride. The thick top is framed with hand-laid brass repoussé and a central medallion on a deep navy field. Carved floral bosses and brass studs trace the apron, evoking ceremonial armour. A statement piece for lobbies, suites, drawing rooms and boutique lounges. Custom sizes, leg counts and finishes on request.
Design origin
The elephant has been the seat of Indian royalty for over two millennia, anchoring processions, coronations and temple architecture. Carved elephant legs, or ‘gaja-paya’, traditionally supported thrones, chowkis and howdahs to invoke strength, wisdom and sovereign grace. The brass-trimmed top echoes the inlaid armour of ceremonial howdahs carried by temple elephants in Kerala and Rajasthan.
