Product description
A hand-built wooden bench that pairs crisp rectilinear framing with an X-stretcher base and a deep upholstered seat. The open arm panels and floating lower shelf give it an airy, furniture-grade presence, while the dark walnut finish grounds it in classic Indian woodworking. Placed at the foot of a bed, in a foyer, or along a dining wall, it reads as seating, storage and sculpture at once. Ideal for hotels, resorts, boutique lobbies, dressing rooms, living rooms and fine-dining spaces.
Design origin
Rooted in India’s colonial-era furniture tradition, the bench takes its cues from the campaign and planter’s chair — a form built for verandahs, dressing rooms and long corridors of old Indian bungalows. The cross-stretcher base references the joinery of the traditional *manjhi* charpai and early railway benches, marrying structural honesty with quiet ornament. Reinterpreted in solid hardwood and tailored upholstery, it carries that heritage into contemporary hospitality and home interiors.
