Product description
A tall framed wall panel carved in deep relief with a climbing vine of leaves, curling tendrils and gilded flowers, with a small wooden shelf and scrolled bracket for a pillar candle. Hung as a pair either side of a console, mirror or bed, the flickering light brings out every cut in the carving. Lovely in corridors, dining rooms, spa and restaurant walls.
Design origin
The rising vine — the bel — is one of the most loved motifs of Indian carving, seen on Mughal stone screens and old havelis, where it stands for growth and continuity. Here it is carved in warm sheesham, framed like a temple niche and lit the traditional way, by candle.
