Product description
A stately elephant cast in Dhokra brass, draped in an open-lattice jhool of spirals and leaves, with a crowned headdress, curled trunk, tusks and beaded anklets. The open wire-work lets light pass through the body, so it looks lighter than it is and casts a delicate shadow. A handsome accent for consoles, study tables, lobbies and corporate gifting.
Design origin
In Indian tradition the elephant stands for wisdom, royalty and good fortune — decorated elephants lead temple processions and royal festivals. This piece is made with the 4,000-year-old Dhokra lost-wax technique of central and eastern India, where each wax thread is laid by hand before casting.
