Product description
A substantial hand-crafted lounge armchair with an exposed slatted frame and deep upholstered cushions, dressed in an ikat-style woven fabric. The exposed joinery, broad arms and tapered legs celebrate traditional Indian woodworking, while the soft seat and back make it a true reading chair. Built to order from solid hardwood and tailored in the fabric of your choice, it brings quiet craftsmanship to a living room, library, suite or lobby. Ideal for heritage hotels, resorts, lounges, club rooms and refined living spaces.
Design origin
Drawing from India’s long craft tradition of solid timber furniture — particularly the slatted wooden benches and easy chairs carved in Saharanpur and Mysore — the design places joinery in plain sight rather than hiding it. The slatted sides echo the charpai and the colonial verandah chair, while the tailored cushions and ikat cloth bring in a contemporary comfort suited to modern Indian interiors. The result is a piece that feels rooted in workshop craft yet quietly contemporary.
